Indoor Plants like Direct Sunlight

Passion flower plants bloom with showy, fragrant flowers during summer.

Houseplants add color and texture to the interior of your home while also helping to absorb sound waves, clean the air and boost oxygen levels. Successfully growing plants indoors depends on choosing the right plant for the right type of sun exposure. Plants that thrive in full sun will do well in windows that face south or west, where they will get the most exposure to the sun.

Plants with Colorful Foliage

Add bright splashes of color to your home with croton plants (Codiaeum variegatum), broad leaf evergreens that flourish when grown indoors in full sun; plants feature showy variegated, spotted or striped white, green, yellow, pink, crimson, purple, orange, gold, dark red, bronze or ivory foliage. Plants can grow to heights of 3 to 10 feet. Crotons have average moisture requirements, although the soil should be kept moist. Full sun exposure helps Red Sister Ti (Cordyline fruiticosa cv. Red Sister) plants produce intense, vividly colored variegated pink and burgundy foliage. This broadleaf evergreen shrub grows to heights of 4 to 6 feet. Ti plants like to be kept in cooler temperatures, in rooms that range from 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit and only need to be watered when the soil feels dry to the touch.

Tropical Flowering Plants

The sunnier the better for tropical houseplants, such as passion flowers (Passiflora) or hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis). Both plants have high light requirements and should be kept moist. Passion flower is a perennial evergreen vine that blooms with vibrant, fragrant flowers in varying shades of red, purple or blue. Passion flowers can be grown in a pot with a trellis or support system, or as a hanging plant. Vines grow up to 10 to 20 feet if left unpruned. Hibiscus fills the room with tropical allure, blooming with large, colorful flowers. Full sun exposure and a large, warm room are ideal for growing hibiscus plants indoors. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings to avoid the potential for root rot. Feed plants with hibiscus-specific fertilizer. Use it weekly or dilute water-soluble formulas to use at every watering.

Greenery

English ivy (Hedera helix) grows vigorously and is well-suited to growing in a hanging basket or a pot with a trellis or support system. Plants can grow 20 to 90 feet long if left untrimmed. English ivy prefers full sun, moist soils and temperatures ranging from 50 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. False aralia (Dizygotheca elegantissima) has large green, palmate leaves. Grow plants in light, well-drained potting soil and fertilize with a slow-release fertilizing blend according to manufacturer instructions. False aralia needs full sun, moist soil and temperatures ranging from 65 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Herbs

Herbs thrive when grown indoors in full sun, with at least four hours of direct sun every day. Windowsill herb gardens are ideal for both maximizing space and getting quality light exposure for your sun-loving herbs. Herbs need well-drained soil and liquid fertilizer or an organic fish emulsion to make sure plants grow strong and healthy. Feed plants weekly during periods of active growth.

No way is BC bud the best. Not possible. The marijuana plant thrives on a dense, moist environment and intense sunlight with a long extended sun season - i.e. Hawaii, Mendocino, Thailand, and the jungles of Columbia. British Columbia does not have the angle of the sun that's required to contain a high amount of available BTU's because it's too far north.
Indoor growing can actually produce very hiqh quality pot IF the grower knows how to spike the plants with the right chemicals in the watering system. However, indoor growing can't produce the same amount of buds that outdoor growing can produce in the same square foot area.
