Best indoor plants to produce oxygen

I don’t know what it is about a room filled with plants, but I find it both relaxing and energizing. The following facts don’t explain all the magic our eyes can’t see but it certainly satisfies some questioning:

  • Natural air cleaner: During daytime, plants naturally take in harmful CO2 and refresh the air by releasing oxygen. CO2 can be reduced by as much as half, and the oxygen increased by introducing a few houseplants into a room. (However, plants do release CO2 at night, since they can’t photosynthesize, but in average they release more oxygen during the day to make up for the CO2 release at night) The best air-purifying houseplants are Bromeliads, Orchids and Succulents.
  • Improves Concentration and Productivity: People working indoors with houseplants in their line of vision do task faster and are able to concentrate better than people who don’t have plants in the room. For people who sit and work at a computer for more than 4 hours per day, a houseplant nearby has been proven to increase productivity.
  • For your health: Indoor plants can reduce fatigue, coughs, sore throats and other cold-related illnesses by more than 30%. Hospital patients with plants in their room have less pain, anxiety, fatigue, take significantly less pain medication, have lower blood pressure and heart rates and are happier with their recovery rooms than patients without plants.

Ghetto Gardening in February

It’s time to start seeds inside. Spring is right around the corner. Tomatoes and green peppers should begin their germination process at this time. Do not wait until May to buy garden plants at Home Depot or another garden store. Real gardeners cultivate their own plants from seeds and the produce always seems much tastier than what one can buy at the supermarket.
It feels better to give birth to our own plants—adopting them is never really the same.
Plants that are started indoors in the dead of winter keep us going on cold winter nights. They are like pets, curling up in a window, purring for our love and affection
