top 5 tricks for growing indoor plants

I’ve put together a list of the top tips to help you grow the best plants indoors! So here it is…

1. Find the best lighting in your home. This is crucial to the success or failure of your plants during the winter. You have to have a window in your home to put your plant in front of in order for it to grow and produce. You should look for South Facing windows in the Winter months because these will get the most sunlight. The best way to make sure the plant grows evenly is to also turn the plant a half turn everyday. I have a sliding glass door that I like to put my indoor plants in front of because it is large and can allow in a lot of sunlight.

2. Right Temperature. Keeping your home at an ideal temperature for the plants is also important. Whether it is winter or summer you should keep your house between 55-70 degrees to allow the plants to grow the best.

3. Remove all Dried Parts. As your plant will grow, some parts will dry up and wither away. It is important to remove all these parts to help keep the plant growing strong.

4. Place a damp sponge in bottom of container. In the bottom of your planter or container place a small damp sponge. This will help keep the soil moist longer allowing you not to have to water as frequently and it will also prevent a leak if you accidentally overfill when watering.

5. Use Ice cubes to water. If you place the ice around in the soil without touching the plant, they will melt evenly throughout the day to keep it moist.
